Margaret Flowers is a Maryland pediatrician. After graduation from the University of Maryland School of Medicine in 1990 and completion of pediatric residency at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Flowers worked first as a hospitalist and then in private practice. She left practice in 2007 to advocate full-time for a single payer health care system at both the state and national levels. She served as Congressional Fellow for Physicians for a National Health Program from 2009-2010 and toured with the Mad as Hell Doctors. She is on the board of Healthcare-Now and is on the coordinating committee of the Health Care is a Human Right campaign in Maryland. Flowers has testified before the state legislature and in Congress. She writes and speaks about health policy and reform, specifically a national Medicare for All health system. She has appeared on Bill Moyers' Journal, Democracy Now and Fox Business News as well as many local and international outlets and in documentaries.
