Dr. Jack Rasmus, Ph.D. Political Economy, teaches economics and politics at St. Mary’s College in Moraga, California, and is a lecturer in labor economics and U.S. economic history at the University of California, Berkeley. He is the author of several recent books on Political Economy in the U.S., including Obama’s Economy: Recovery for the Few, April 2012; Epic Recession: Prelude to Global Depression, May 2010; and The War at Home: The Corporate Offensive From Ronald Reagan to George W. Bush, January 2006. His forthcoming book in late 2013 is entitled “America’s Ten Crises: What Can Be Done.” Rasmus is the host of the weekly New York radio show, ‘Alternative Visions’, every Wednesday at 2pm, on the Progressive Radio Network at PRN.FM.

Rasmus is also a freelance journalist writing widely on U.S. economic and domestic policy topics for various magazines and public blogs, and a playwright and author of several stage plays, including “1934”, a full length musical about the San Francisco waterfront during the 1934 maritime and general strikes. Before undertaking a writing and teaching career since 2003, Rasmus was an economist and global markets analyst for various international companies, as well as an elected local union President and representative for several labor unions, including the National Writers Union, the Communications Workers of America, Service Employees International Union, and Hotel & Restaurant Workers Union.
